ABOUT US
TROWEL AND TANKARD
Trowel and Tankard was created to celebrate a community that has too often gone without its own banner. Many industries have their own brand or label that people wear proudly. I felt it was time for us diggers to have one too.
Born in New South Wales, Australia, Trowel and Tankard came to life after years of planning without doing; finally pulling together ideas that had been sitting in the trench for too long. But this was never just about selling merchandise. From the start, the goal has been to create a place where archaeologists, heritage specialists, palaeontologists, geologists, and everyone with a passion for uncovering stories of the past can connect, share, and be represented.
The news section is one of the ways we stay connected. Updated daily, it’s a quick way to keep up with what’s happening across Australia; industry updates, legislative changes, journal papers, and research that shape our field. Alongside this, the jobs section was designed to be wide and varied, aiming to include opportunities for everyone in the industry, no matter their flavour. Every day I personally research and compile job postings and news items so that you don’t have to.
Looking ahead, Trowel and Tankard will grow beyond news and apparel. I’m developing courses to support skill development for those who want to strengthen their office and reporting abilities. After years of helping both juniors and seniors grow their understanding of their own learning styles, I want to share those lessons in a more accessible way.
At its heart, Trowel and Tankard is about community, knowledge, and pride. It’s about having a brand that feels like it belongs to us, while also offering resources that help us stay connected and continue growing in our work. From the trench to the tavern, this is Trowel and Tankard.
